Delbert W. Baker, PhD, MDiv, is an administrator, educator, author, executive leadership coach, and ordained minister. He has served as President of both Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Adventist University of Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, and has served at every level of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
As an author, Baker has written 15 books and more than 200 articles. An avid traveler, he has visited more than 130 countries and is an advocate for education, Adventism, and health and wellness. He completed marathons on all seven continents, including the North Pole to raise scholarship funds for students. Committed to servant leadership, his life is guided by three core values: education, excellence, and eternity. He firmly believes in God’s providence, the potential within every individual, and the importance of focusing on solutions rather problems.
Married to Susan Baker, an educator and Physical Therapist, the Bakers have three adult sons and six grandchildren. He currently serves as Director of Research and Development in the office of the Regional Conference Retirement Plan and Regional Conference Ministries in Huntsville Alabama. He is committed to maximizing the potential and possibilities of the retirement phase of life and to enhancing the Regional work.
