Janice Hughes Tomlin

Janice Hughes Tomlin was born in Wilmington, North Carolina. Her educational journey began in the local SDA church school kindergarten and continued through eighth grade. After a ninth grade year in public school she attended and graduated from Pine Forge Academy, located in Pa, with the class of 1970.

Janice joined her PFA friends at Oakwood College, January 1971. She majored in Secretarial Science. Soon realizing this major was not a fit for her she embarked on a major in Elementary Education and Minored in History.  Janice proudly graduated from Oakwood College ( University) with the dynamic class of 1975.

Janice taught one year of SDA church school before entering the North Carolina Public School System where she taught grades 2-5 for 37.5 years.

She served as grade level chair  and NCAE Representative for several years and earned Teacher of the Year in 2003. After retiring in 2013 she continued teaching as a substitute until March 2020.

Janice has been the Children’s Ministries leader at her church for more than 15 years.

Janice has been joyfully married to Isaiah Tomlin since 1977. They are tremendously blessed to have two wonderful children, Isaiah and Talecia.
