Aundra Lewis Mattox

Aundra Mattox is a proud member of the Class of 1975, and graduated from the first nursing class of Oakwood College, now Oakwood University. Currently she works as a Practice Performance Consultant/ Case Management for UnitedHealth Group where she has been employed for the last nineteen years.

Over the expanse of her forty plus years as a registered nurse, she has had the privilege of providing expert care for infants and children. Her career began in Pediatrics in Benton Harbor, Michigan and Danville, Va. In Danville, she collaborated with a physician who was the first to identify the disease tuberculosis in a twelve-year old. However, it was her short stay in Toledo, Ohio that was the catalyst to jumpstart a very satisfying career in NICU (Newborn Intensive Care) across a myriad of states, California, Alabama, Georgia, Washington DC, Maryland, and Florida where she now resides.  While working in Alabama she identified a genetic medical condition called esophageal atresia in the newborn daughter of Randy Owens, lead singer for the group Alabama. In Georgia, it was her unique experience to provide care to infants on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine which is like a heart lung machine for adults.

Mt. Calvary SDA Church in Tampa keeps her busy as a greeter, assistant in communications, and singing on the praise team. She enjoys traveling with her spouse Nathaniel of 21 years, reading, cooking and gardening.

She has been blessed with two sons: Brennan Wimbish, a program director for a major Christian radio station in the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia area, and Kyle Wimbish, an account manager for an AI Medical Scribe technology company in Washington state, six grandchildren, three bonus children, and four bonus grands.  2024 marked her tenth year as a breast cancer survivor.
